Handmade Wheat Motif Tablecloths
Carpegna tablecloths were completely handcrafted – herringbone weaving technique. Both craft and appearance are inspired by the 19th century design – outer edge matrice hand-print.
Given that it?s handcrafted work, the true verification of the originality of each tablecloth are minor irregularities – a small variation in size and the handprint placement. The creases from the packaging will disappear after first ironing, and it will not shrink for a bit after countless washings.
William Morris? 1850?s until 1870?s matrice hand-print technique has been almost absolutely phased out by digital and screen printing. We have found a small, remote place near Pesaro that still produce authentic Arts & Crafts placemats.
